Roman Nowak

Roman is a high school English Teacher and Department Head in his 17th year of education. Father of two incredible daughters and husband to his amazing wife and educator, Roman strives to make an impact and a difference in the lives of his students, his community, and in education. Agent of Transformation and Student Success Leader, Roman has held various teaching positions from K-12 and has spent three years working for the Ministry of Education as an Education Officer responsible for Student Success and Learning until 18 for the province of Ontario. As a former Student Success Teacher, Lead in Technology, and 21st Century Learning and Cooperative Education Teacher, Roman’s varied background offers him a unique perspective on education. Son of immigrants, a polyglot (Polish, English, French, and Spanish speaker) and an English Language Learner himself, supporting student success has always been a priority. He has presented at numerous conferences including Reading for the Love of It, Google Summits, iPad summits, Rocky Mountain Symposium, and many others. He enjoys writing blogs and has been a guest on various podcasts centered around education. Every Sunday, he leads the #BuildHOPEedu chat; building a community of learners around HOPE, empathy, compassion, and kindness. Learning, innovation, equity and social justice are vital to his work and Roman strives to lead education transformation through collaborations, risk-taking, and pushing the status quo.
