Responsibilities:
- Acquire and evaluate book manuscripts for publication, considering market trends and audience appeal
- Collaborate with authors and writers to provide editorial feedback, guidance, and support throughout the writing process
- Edit and revise manuscripts for content, structure, style, grammar, and consistency
- Coordinate with design, production, and marketing teams to ensure a seamless workflow from editing to publication
- Conduct fact-checking, research, and permissions clearance as needed for book projects
- Maintain editorial standards, guidelines, and best practices to uphold the quality of published books
- Stay informed about industry trends, publishing standards, and evolving editorial practices
Qualifications:
- Proven experience in book editing or publishing
- Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills
- Strong project management and organizational abilities
- Ability to work collaboratively with authors, writers, and cross-functional teams
- Knowledge of publishing industry standards, copyright laws, and editorial processes
- Proficiency in editing software and tools, such as Apple Pages, Adobe Acrobat, and style guides
